La Leche League Canada

Health Professionals Seminars

on August 26, 2013

La Leche League Canada is pleased to present Nancy Mohrbacher as the guest speaker at our 2013 Health Professional Seminars.

“Really felt I was at a leading edge Breastfeeding Conference.”

Just wanted to let you know that this was one of the best conferences I have attended.”

“Useful information, opportunity to meet and network with others interested in lactation/breastfeeding.”

“The whole program was excellent!”

“One of the best presenters I have ever heard.”

“Nancy is an amazing speaker with very current and relevant insights into client care.  She provided practical information which could be used immediately in practice.  Thank you for organizing this.   I have been an IBCLC for 19 years and it is amazing to attend a conference and still receive information which is maybe not new but relevant.”

These are just a few of the many comments La Leche League Canada heard from the attendees at our Spring Health Professional Seminars featuring Nancy Mohrbacher, IBCLC, FILCA.   Nancy is author of the books for breastfeeding specialists, Breastfeeding Answers Made Simple (BAMS) and the BAMS Pocket Guide Edition.  She is co-author (with Julie Stock) of all three editions of The Breastfeeding Answer Book, a research-based counselling guide for lactation professionals, which has sold more than 130,000 copies worldwide.  She also has a new book for parents, Breastfeeding Solutions: Quick Tips for the Most Common Nursing Challenges.  Nancy has written for many publications and has spoken at breastfeeding conferences around the world.

Nancy’s love of breastfeeding began with her own three sons.  She became as a volunteer breastfeeding counsellor in 1982 and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 1991 helping thousands of breastfeeding families in the Chicago area.  In 2008, the International Lactation Consultant Association recognized Nancy’s contributions to the field of breastfeeding by awarding her the designation of FILCA, Fellow of the International Lactation Consultant Association.

Over 400 people attended the spring series in five locations across Canada.  Calgary was SOLD OUT and had a waiting list!  There were many different Health Professionals who attended such as Doctors, Nurses, Dieticians, Naturopaths, Midwives, Lactation Consultants, Childbirth Educators, Students, and Doulas.

The Seminar topics include The Natural Laws of Breastfeeding  (which covers the entire course of breastfeeding), Concerns about Milk Production  (milk production at different stages of lactation and in different situations), Understanding Breastfeeding Behaviours  (more ‘tools’ for your ‘lactation toolbox’), and Nipple Pain and Trauma (in-depth review, causes, assessment, and recommendations).  CERPs Allocated by IBLCE are 5.5L.   Check out our website for a complete description.
